EcoCAR 2 is a three-year automotive engineering competition established in 2011 by the U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors, and challenges 15 collegiate teams to reduce the environmental impact of a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu without compromising performance, safety and consumer acceptability.

Recognizing the power of students, and by leveraging key public-private partnerships, EcoCAR provides hands-on education and real-world experiences to address critical issues facing energy and the environment.

The inaugural SXSW Eco Exhibition will showcase innovative universities and companies seeking to enhance the economy, environment and civil society through education and business solutions. Open to all registrants.
