1% is Not Enough: Increasing Access to Organics

Consumers are demanding more organic food, yet less than 1% of today’s US farmland is organic. This means that only a segment of the population can access organics. While organic acreage must expand significantly to meet this demand, it takes 3+ years to convert fields to organic, and farmers must take a financial risk to make it happen. In discussions with farmers, Kashi learned of this pain point and was inspired to seek solutions to meet the needs of both aspiring organic farmers and customers – and do something powerful to make organic food more accessible and promote sustainable agriculture - over the long term.
