Summary

You feel better when surrounded by nature. Why, then, have we built concrete jungles that trap heat, suppress nature and distance us from our biological imperative? Scientists and designers are gathering information about the emotional and psychological benefits of nature to quantify what we have always known: Nature reduces stress, aids in recovery from illness, enhances cognitive skills and academic performance, and aids in the effects of certain illnesses. In this immersive sensory experience including strong visuals, sound and natural artifacts, Amanda Sturgeon and Tim Beatley will share how communities all over the world are finding ways to bring cities back to life with biophilic design.
