Summary

Venture capital firms spent over $25 billion funding clean energy technology (cleantech) start-ups from 2006 to 2011 and lost over half their money; as a result, funding has dried up in the cleantech sector. However, the need for early stage funding is greater than ever, and the demand from new capital sources for promising company investments continues to rise. Why has the traditional investing model failed? And how can we make sure that new investors, incubators and advocates don't repeat the same mistakes? Leaders from the worlds of angel investing, Department of Energy, and startup accelerators will discuss how they're charting new paths forward for cleantech investing and innovation.
