Summary

This session will discuss innovations in technology and open source data used to fight kleptocracy and corruption in Africa, as well as their impact on U.S. Government policy. U.S. Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Steve Feldstein will be joined by C4ADS, an organization using data-driven analysis and evidence-based reporting to provide detailed visuals of the chains of kleptocratic financing, and Global Witness, an organization using visual data to showcase global connections in money laundering. The audience will learn how government and non-government partners are using innovative tools to combat corruption and kleptocracy in Africa.
