Summary

Our final category for 2016, Place by Design: Speculative + Prototyping features emerging ideas and technologies designed to transform the places around us and drive social, environmental and economic impact. These exciting projects are in conceptual and prototyping phases, and will provide a window into design iteration as well as show the potential for what’s next in impactful, place-based design. These projects range in scale and intent, and include architects using thermobimetal and CNC knitting technologies and rethinking new uses for bus stops, semi-trucks and parking lots.
