Mark oversees Scientific American's print and online coverage of energy, environment and sustainability. He has written about climate change, land use, biodiversity, sea level rise and more. His 2001 article, “Drowning New Orleans,” predicted the widespread disaster that a storm like Hurricane Katrina would impose, and explained how harm could be prevented—four years before Katrina hit.
