Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy - Director of Park Initiatives
Kate has 20 years of experience in the public lands planning and management field. As the Directory of Park Initiatives, she focuses on finding creative and effective ways to engage the public in national park places and stories. She leads the Art in the Parks initiative to engage artists and arts organization in park programs, the Trails Forever initiative, a program to restore and enhance 150 miles of park trails and natural/cultural sites through improved design, visitor engagement and volunteer stewardship, and the park’s Visitor Experience Research program. She likes to experiment with new engagement tools and has conceived and led the implementation of several award winning efforts including The Community Shuttle Program, The Roving Ranger mobile visitor center, Community Trailheads Project and a variety of art projects including recent exhibitions International Orange, @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz and Mark di Suvero at Crissy Field.
