Quick Bio

Elizabeth Okeke-Von Batten is the Director of the American Architectural Foundation’s Center for Design & the City. The Foundation works to empower leaders to transform their communities by design and the Center’s activities support the Foundation’s mission by providing for engagements that connect local civic leaders with multi-disciplinary design professionals and resources to create more vibrant, sustainable, and livable communities. Liz develops and produces the Center’s Sustainable Cities Design Academy (SCDA), a technical assistance program that helps public-private partnership projects advance their social, financial, and infrastructure-related sustainability goals through planning and implementation, and the City Managers’ Design Academy, a peer-to-peer leadership program. Liz holds a MA in Historic Preservation Planning degree from Cornell University and BA degrees in Art History and French from Augustana College.
