Quick Bio

Aaswath Raman is co-founder and CEO of SkyCool Systems. He received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Stanford University in 2013, and his A.B. in Physics and M.S. in Computer Science from Harvard University in 2006. Previously, Aaswath was a Program Manager at Microsoft in charge of the web spam team for the Bing search engine. At Stanford, Aaswath helped redesign refugee camps in a collaboration with UNHCR, and improve the delivery of legal services in Sierra Leone. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles that have been cited over 1200 times.

In 2013, he was the recipient of the Stanford Postdoctoral Research Award, and in 2011, the SPIE Green Photonics Award, and the Sir James Lougheed Award of Distinction Fellowship from the Government of Alberta, Canada. In recognition of his work on making sky cooling a technological reality, he received MIT Technology Review’s Innovator Under 35 (TR35) Award in 2015 for being a Pioneer in Energy.
