Laura Sohn

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival - Dir of Sustainability

Quick Bio

Laura Sohn was born in the coalfields of Kentucky. Wanting to get away as quickly as possible she attended Colorado College, however as soon as she arrived, she realized how much the Appalachian Mountains defined her and her values. After graduating and completing a Colorado College fellowship she returned home. For the next 5 years she worked in the Development office at Appalshop, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of Appalachian culture. Working in the development office for the cultural and social justice organization she gleaned valuable community-organizing skills. In 2006 she moved to Knoxville, TN where for 3 years she was assistant to Ashley Capps, founder of AC Entertainment. A of couple years into being Capps’s assistant, Bonnaroo was in need of a sustainability coordinator. Her community organizing skills and passion for making the world a better place were a perfect fit for the job. Since then she has spearheaded and helped execute a number of projects from an on-site compost pad to a permanent 50Kw solar array. The projects nearest to her heart are those that build a sustainable community, whether among fans or staff.
